Dr. Joan practices a holistic style of healing therapy she calls Becoming Therapy (BT). BT is a holistic Christian counselling technique that makes forgiveness front and centre of the process. It also incorporates knowledge from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), neuroscience, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). The efficacy of this powerful technique lies in its ability to identify a moment in time Dr. Joan calls “The Room”—the year, month and day the individual first experienced an overwhelming fear of punishment and anxiety about being unworthy of love. Dr. Joan teaches every individual how to examine that moment, see the struggle with fear that is present there and overcome it.

Dr. Joan supports individual and families experiencing a variety of challenges including depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. Couples experiencing relationship difficulties and moving through a divorce or reconciliation process. Individuals who are experiencing unexplained physical health problems.
OUR AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
Dr. Joan offers a caring and supportive atmosphere that allows you to walk out of the first session completely released from that “thing” that has weighed you down and kept you stuck in a depressive, anxious or angry state for years. You will know the true sources of the problem and she will help you forgive and overcome it in at little as 1 session.
First session with Dr. Joan – Here’s what to expect
A typical session generally lasts 2.0 hours. Your first session will include the following:
1. Review of the data provide on your client information form
2. An introduction to the Becoming Therapy process
3. An initial assessment with forgiveness therapy
4. Debriefing about insights and revelations brought forward during the session
5. Review of what you might expect as you move through your healing journey
6. A 10 to 15-minute follow-up phone call 2-3 days after your first session
*These are the standard fees for Dr. Joan’s Counselling and Consulting, however all services are open to a sliding scale where necessary. If persons are unable to pay fees due to financial constraints all efforts will be made to offer support as best we can, including referrals to other counselling agencies.
